Honor recognizes AbleVets’ efforts to recruit, employ and retain our nation’s Veterans
CHANTILLY, Va. – Nov. 8, 2018 – AbleVets LLC, a leading provider of health IT solutions for government, today announced it is a recipient of the HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration Award in the platinum medallion category for medium-sized organizations. This announcement follows a formal award presentation at the 2018 HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration Awards Ceremony at the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. earlier today. Jim McCartin, a senior program leader at AbleVets and a Veteran, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
The U.S. Department of Labor established the HIRE Vets Medallion Program Demonstration under the provisions of the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) signed into law by President Donald J. Trump on May 5, 2017. The program recognizes employers for their investments in recruiting, employing and retaining our nation’s veterans. Awards, made for the first time this year, recognize large, medium and small employers at two levels, platinum or gold.
Wyatt Smith, AbleVets’ founder and CEO, said, “It is truly an honor to receive this award. When I founded AbleVets, I did so seeking to establish a company staffed by Veterans who worked on behalf of Veterans. We’ve endeavored to create and expand recruiting pipelines with Veteran-focused organizations and training programs to achieve this vision. I’m proud to say that Veterans currently comprise about 15 percent of our workforce, and we work every day to raise that percentage even higher. AbleVets is – and will always be – committed to hiring and training Veterans, their spouses and their family members.”
AbleVets also is a proud participant in the Northern Virginia Technology Council’s Veterans Employment Initiative and the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s Veteran and Military Business Council.
